Picture: Justice

Full size

I took a picture of my pencil lead and then, on a whim, decided to entitle it “Justice.” Bonus points to anyone who can figure out any real link between the picture and the title.

EDIT (10:29 PM) – Best one gets to be stolen and embellished by yours truly.

In the wild, wild (American) West, it used to be said that justice flowed out
of the barrel of a gun. What emerges explosively from gun barrels? Lead.

The pencil leads are contained in a rectangular prism shaped container, with 6 flat sides appearing to be a variant of the cube, which is one philosophy on all-encompassing shape of the universe. Now, while no spheres are directly evident in this photograph, their presence is inferred from the various circular shapes seen (i.e. the dots that make up the picture and the round ends of the leads) because no matter what angle you slice a sphere, you always end up with a circle, thus establishing another philosophical point of view inherent in the photo. The pencil leads then give the comprimise of the two: the cylinder its ends are circles, the two dimensional shape that directly relates to the sphere, and when cut lengthwise, a parallelagram with perpindicular sides is seen, the two dimensional object that supercedes the square which defines the faces of the cube. Therefore, this comprimisation gives an unbiased representation of both, justly displaying each in an impartial and fair manner.

i should have used a spell-checker: “supercede” should be “supersede” since the first isn’t a word; however, the rest of the explanation still holds.

oh yeah, there should also be a period after “cylinder”, and comprimisation isn’t in the dictionary. remind me to nxt time poofread before postign a replie.
